CAMPAIGNS

Integrity Icon in South Africa

Integrity Icon, a flagship campaign of Accountability Lab, is celebrated for fostering a culture of accountability and personal responsibility among public servants and their communities. In 2022, the People’s Choice winner was Bongani Eric Siyonna, hailing from the vibrant community of KwaZakhele in Qhebherha. Bongani’s dedication to public service, which he demonstrated as a police officer in Makhanda, has brought hope and stability to his community and its surroundings. In our “Meet the Icons Dialogue” series, Integrity Icons like Mncedi Mtengwana, Joyce Buthelezi, Vuyokazi Nkevu Langbooi, Unathi Filita, and Dr. Sadna Balton have shared their stories and successes. They’ve been recognized for their exceptional contributions in various ways, from national TV appearances to invitations to government programs and promotions at work. These Icons are making a difference in their communities and beyond.

Integrity Icon Film Fellowship

Integrity Icon Film Fellowship offers young talents an opportunity to hone their filmmaking and storytelling skills. Our intensive three-month program is a gateway to mastering the art of social impact visual storytelling. Our film fellows embark on a structured curriculum guided by experienced filmmakers and receive ongoing mentorship. The result? Captivating Integrity Icon films that shed light on critical issues like mental health, youth unemployment, and community development.

Integrity Icon Film Fellowship

Our 2022 Integrity Icons are an exceptional group of public servants making a difference in education, healthcare, law enforcement, and administration. They include Goodman Sibongeleni Mkhize, an accounting teacher; Desiree Sehlapelo, a public servant committed to trust and community projects; Warrant Officer Bongani Eric Siyona, dedicated to uplifting young people; Dr. Anna Cross, providing top-notch medical care and community information; and Adell Lebabo, supporting underserved learners.

The Integrity Film Fellowship has empowered talented filmmakers like Faith Riyano and Collen Mfazwe to create a lasting impact. Faith now leads internationally and runs her own production company, Zenith Seed Films, while Collen advocates for LGBTQI+ rights through powerful projects. Ayanda Msiza, also from the 2021 cohort, is in high demand by civil society groups. In 2022, new fellows continue this legacy: Nomthandazo Matola spotlights youth-focused community development, Lesedi Butie showcases fitness and safety initiatives, Thobeka Bhengu captures stories of youth unemployment and hope, Mkhanyiseli Mbini focuses on a heartwarming soup kitchen story, and Rahid Khoza tells the compelling tale of a young Muslim community builder, all through the lens of film. These storytellers are making a difference through their art.
